Implications of non-invasive prenatal testing for identifying and managing high-risk pregnancies

چکیده
Non-invasive prenatal testing is regularly used to screen for aneuploidies and Rhesus status of a fetus. Since 1997 when free fetal DNA (ffDNA) in the maternal circulation was first identified, it has been hypothesized that may be possible use non-invasive (NIPT) identify high-risk pregnancies including pre-eclampsia, growth restriction preterm birth. then there much interest this area as way understand disease processes. This review presents current evidence approach. For pre-eclampsia hypothesis ffDNA would increase but heterogenous across studies trimesters. There however increasing agreement between by third trimester more likely raised pre-eclamptic patients than controls. birth, again, main should increase. The results are also heterogenous, with some finding increased prior others no change. restriction, competing theories reduced suggest levels reduced. complexities interpreting all studies’ designs, patient populations, especially context definitions not clear. Furthermore, authors different biochemical tests units describe their results, making meta-analysis difficult. All these issues conflicting findings lead us conclusion currently yet definitive place clinical practice NIPT support diagnosis management pregnancies. However, vital research continues could open door better understanding process novel approaches management.

Onm-13: Prenatal Care in High-Risk Pregnancies
Prenatal care is more than just health care in pregnancy. For the vast majority of women, pregnancy follows a routine course. Some women, however, have medical difficulties related to their health or the health of their baby. These women experience what is called a high-risk pregnancy. A pregnancy may be considered high-risk for a variety of reasons. Some of these include: diabetes, preeclampsi...

BACKGROUND Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), also known as cell-free DNA testing and non-invasive prenatal screening (NIPS), is an important addition to the range of screening tests for fetal chromosomal abnormalities. For trisomy 21 in particular, NIPT is superior to other screening modalities. However, NIPT has limitations and complexities that requesting clinicians and their patients sho...

متن کاملClinical utility of non‐invasive prenatal testing in pregnancies with ultrasound anomalies
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the application of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) as an alternative to invasive diagnostic prenatal testing in pregnancies with abnormal ultrasound findings. METHODS This was a retrospective analysis of 251 singleton and multiple pregnancies at high risk for fetal chromosomal abnormality based on findings at sonographic examination, in which NIPT was performed as a...
متن کاملNon-Invasive Prenatal Diagnosis in Twin Pregnancies: Current Status
The objective of this review is to assess the evidence which supports the use of non-invasive prenatal diagnosis (NIPD) in twin pregnancies. Through the years, we have witnessed the technological developments in non-invasive prenatal diagnosis attained new heights, but those studies were usually limited in singleton pregnancies. As we known, twin pregnancies are at higher risk in both aneuploid...
